This 1600′ section of gravel pathway is part of the East Coast Greenway, a project that is on it’s way to connecting the whole East Coast from Florida to Maine with a 3000 mile signed route. Approximately 20% of the route is along traffic-free paths like the one we worked on. Steve posted about riding some of the Greenway between Philly and New York recently.

About three dozen volunteers helped spread piles of gravel to repave the surface of the trail, filling mud holes and evening things out. Present were DRCC staff, members of the Local 30 Roofers Union, community members, and U.S. Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz. It took just over an hour to complete the task – about half the time expected. With shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows, volunteers worked enthusiastically in the mild weather, right next to the river.
