Steve Spindler Cartography designed the Regional Bicycle Map for the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia in 2003.

This map is intended for experienced bicyclists who need to plan efficient routes over longer distances.  It rates roads as Bicycle Friendly (Maroon), Average (Blue) and Below Average (Orange).  Almost all streets are shown on the map.

John Boyle, the Bicycle Coalition’s Advocacy Director, analyzed roads based on the Bicycle Level of Service Model and the Bicycle Compatibility Index and made generalizations from there in order to make this map.  Keep in mind that road conditions change throughout the course of the day due to factors like traffic and distracted drivers.

You can view both sides of the map as JPEG files by clicking the following links: Page 1 (5.3 MB), Page 2 (4.1 MB)
