For the Press:
Current plans are to print between 10,000 and 20,000, and the maps will be given away by transportation management associations (TMAs) and similar organizations. Individuals will be about to obtain maps from this site. The maps will also be for sale at book stores like Barnes and Nobles, because we found that it’s worth $5 to know that you can walk into a store and buy them.
Why this map is here:
Steve Spindler formerly served on SEPTA's Citizen Advisory Committee in the 1990's. In the past, he digitized SEPTA's City Streets and Transit Map for SEPTA. The problem is that people can't get that map very easily. And unlike other cities where you can get a free transit map, it costs about $20 for official maps the entire system (not including NJ Transit). This map originated as a potential solution to the question, "Wouldn't it be nice if there were a free transit map for the region?" This website and printed map, though not perfect, will hopefully continue to work towards this goal.
