Gerry Krieg
grew up and has lived in the Philadelphia region most of his life, except for a several year hiatus to test the hectic pace of NY. He received his undergrad degree in Social Work & practiced that for a little while until it dawned on him that poor misguided souls did not need a poor misguided soul to assist them. He worked at various jobs until hooking up with a solar company - essentially running the company for several years in the '90's.

Gerry's strong interest in environmental issues led him to go back to school in the early 90's for Cartography at Temple University's Geography and Urban Studies Program. He has often worked with Steve Spindler on his bike and transit maps over the last 12 years. Gerry has also worked on a series of tourist maps for a New York company & created historical maps for academic publications. Gerry has served on the Recycling & Environmental committees of communities he has lived in - helpfully illuminating the fine distinctions between #1 and #3 plastics for the enlightened citizens.

John Branigan was raised as a cyclist in Northeast Philadelphia, and first rode from Philly to the Jersey Shore when he was twelve years old. After receiving a degree in ancient Greek and anthropology from Emory University, he worked briefly digging holes for archaeologists before realizing that he better enjoyed designing databases and maps for them. He has ever since worked as a geographic informations systems analyst for environmental and engineering firms, wrangling large sets of spatial data and writing programs while under the influence of Fair Trade coffee and experimental jazz.

John co-founded an organic vegetable farm in South Central Pennsylvania, worked there for several years on weekends and evenings, and remains passionate about real food grown by real people. He now stays in a small town nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where his skinny tires take him to the local organic food co-op and coffee roaster, and his fat tires help him explore thousands of miles of gnarly trail in the surrounding national forest. John also plays the upright bass, touring with the progressive roots band Rising Appalachia.

John and his french press are responsible for programming this web site.

Steve Spindler's favorite mode of transportation is a bike, whether it's for errands, commuting, taking his kids to daycare, or travel. He has bicycled across the US, and has bicycled in Europe and Asia as well. He has a special interest in the use of bicycles and in conjunction with public transportation.

Steve lives and works in Jenkintown, which is served by several rail lines and has the best train service into Center City outside of Philadelphia. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Hiway Theatre and the Jenkintown Community Alliance.
